Your goal is to grow your empire and become the biggest mob boss in the city of Chicago, but you will have to scrape tooth and nail to get there. It might seem like a tall order, but in Empire of Sin, anything is possible when beginners are armed with information.
Understanding The Combat System
The combat system is turn-based, and it can be quite confusing if you have never encountered something like this before. It comes with its own rules, but what you have to remember is that strategy is everything, as it is in these other turn-based strategy games.
A few things to keep in mind is that you have two action points to spend each round and cover is indicated by the shields in the area.
KnowingTheRackets
If you want to become the biggest Mob Boss in Empire of Sin, then you need to bring in revenue to expand your businesses. This is why it is important to be able to differentiate between the establishments, but running a speakeasy is the most reliable way to make money.
Brothels bring in a low but steady income, while Casinos are high risk and high reward. Just make sure with your speakeasies that your breweries are creating enough booze and that your rackets are serving the right type to their customers.
Focus On Derelict Buildings
You can go to war and take over buildings from other mob bosses, or you can find derelict buildings to own instead. This is the best route to go as they are easy to find, and the competition inside is usually highly beatable with the turn-based combat system.
There are also buildings for sale that you can buy as well and turn into whatever illegal business you want to own.
Expand Slowly
You don't need to have a foothold in every neighborhood district at first, as expanding slowly is the best idea. Players should focus on securing as many buildings as possible in a single area before moving on to the next.

Each neighborhood also has statistics for you to look at so you can see how much more profit you can make. If you run out of customers to serve, you can always build a hotel to bring more clientele to the area.
Be Diplomatic, But Still Set Boundaries
You are often given the option to work with other mob bosses as you trade, set up deals, form alliances, and go to war. The important thing is to find a balance between diplomacy and criminal actions, as you need to create friendships while still working your way up the ladder.
It never hurts to go to sit-downs and see what the other mob bosses have to offer, but just remember that not every offer is a good one. The same goes for gang wars, as joining one will cost you some of your own gangsters and it could be bad for business.
Work With The Police
The police have a job to do, but that doesn't mean you can't negotiate with them in this historically accurate game. There will be some instances where the police want you to help them out by supplying them with illegal hangouts and taking these offers will greatly increase your reputation with them at the expense of your notoriety.
You can also bribe them as well from your DiplomacyTab in your radial menu if you start to notice they might be prepping to raid your establishments. One tip is that you should avoid killing cops as much as possible since this will only do more harm than good.
Limit The Number OfGangsters
You can have up to ten gangsters who you assign to tasks at a single time in your mob. However, this doesn't mean it is a good idea as each one will take a cut of your profits.

Yes, it can be very helpful to have five gangsters by your side when raiding a derelict building, but it is also unnecessary. You should stick to two or three until you become more established and have a steady profit stream coming into your bank account.
Don't Forget To Upgrade
You might not have the cash right away to turn every establishment into a top-notch place, so don't forget to upgrade them down the line. It will not only bring in more revenue, but it will help you steal customers from the competition.
The upgrades do take time, and it is time well spent as you continue to increase your profit margins by spending small amounts of cash intermittently.
MissionsMake You Money
If you find that you are running low on funds, then you should consider completing the missions as their payouts are fairly large. Yes, you might be running between neighborhoods in the midst of a mob war as you fight with turn-based strategies, but it will give you the cash to open several new rackets.
You can even use the money to upgrade your gangsters and invest your money in people who will help you make a larger profit.
Use Taxis To Travel
If you want to travel to a new neighborhood, you must use a taxi and it is easier than it may seem. All you have to do is click on the taxi in another neighborhood and it will send you there.
You don't even need to interact with the taxi in your current neighborhood first, but this is one part of the game that players often struggle to figure out for themselves.
