A post-graduate legal education is a significant investment. The University of Miami School of Law automatically considers all admitted students for scholarships based on merit, need, and available scholarship funds.

Scholarship awards are limited and competitive, hence many students combine these with aid from other sources such as employers, governments, or another third party to meet the cost of attendance.

  • AIJA Scholarship

    One half-tuition scholarship is available to be awarded to an AIJA member to study inany LL.M. program.

    Students who submit a complete LL.M. application are automatically considered for this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

    Note: Please indicate your AIJA membership in your application materials.

  • Cobb Family Fellowship

    ThisCobb Family fellowship, administered by Fulbright Iceland, provides a living stipend for a graduate of the University of Iceland to study at the University of Miami for one yearinany LL.M. program.

    The Cobb Fellowship was created by Charles E. Cobb, Jr., former Ambassador to Iceland and member of the University's Board of Trustees.

  • Dean’s Merit Scholarships

    The University of Miami School of Law awards partial scholarships each year toentering LL.M. studentswith excellent academic records and other outstanding qualifications for the post-graduate study of law.

    Dean's Merit Scholarships are available to LL.M. students and are awarded separately at the time of admission to an LL.M. program.

    Note:No separate application is requiredfor the Dean's Merit Scholarships; all admitted students are automatically considered for them.

  • e-Fellows Scholarship

    One half-tuition scholarship is available for a present or past participant of the e-fellows LL.M. Day in Berlin, Frankfurt, or Munich, Germany to study in any LL.M. program.

    Students who submit a complete LL.M. application are automatically considered for this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

  • Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Moot Scholarship

    One half-tuition scholarship is available for a present or past student participant, coach or arbitrator in the FDI Moot competition to study in any LL.M. program.

    Students who submit a complete LL.M. application are automatically considered for this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

    Note: Please indicate your participation in the FDI Moot in your application materials.

  • Moot Madrid Scholarship

    One half-tuition scholarship is available for a present or past participant of the competition to study in any LL.M. program.

    Students who submit a complete LL.M. application are automatically considered for this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

    Note: Please Indicate your participation in the Moot Madrid in your application materials.

  • UBA-Rosario Competencia Internacional de Arbitraje Scholarship

    One half-tuition scholarship is available for a present or past student participant, coach, or arbitrator in the UBA-Rosario Competencia Internacional de Arbitraje to study in any LL.M. program.

    Students who submit a complete LL.M. application areautomatically consideredfor this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

  • Vis Moot Scholarship

    One half-tuition scholarship is available for a present or past student participant, coach, or arbitrator in the: Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition in Vienna, Austria, or the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (East) Competition in Hong Kong, SAR China to study in any LL.M. program.

    Students who submit a complete LL.M. application areautomatically consideredfor this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

  • Vivanco Scholarship

    The international law firm Vivanco & Vivanco will award anannual scholarshipto pursue a postgraduate degree at theUniversity of Miami School of Law.The Vivanco Foundation is offering a scholarship to a young Argentine lawyer to study an LL.M. at Miami Law. The Fulbright Commission will oversee administering the call and the selection of the finalist. Read More

  • Scholarship Agreements with Partner Universities and Organizations

    To promote stronger ties with foreign law schools and associations, we have entered into various cooperation agreements with institutions abroad.

    The agreements offer a$15,000 USD scholarship toward LL.M. tuition feesfor any LL.M. program that accepts foreign-trained lawyers.

    Up to four outstanding law graduates from each school or four outstanding members of each organization are eligible.*

    Universities and Organizations with current agreements:

    * Miami Law reserves the right to admit or reject an applicant. Recipients are nominated by each of the foreign law schools or associations. Miami Law will evaluate and award applicants on the basis of their skills and achievements. Nominees must apply for admission to the LL.M. Program and follow all established application procedures and meet standard admissions requirements. Applications are considered on a rolling basis with a priority deadline of May 1 and are reviewed by the Admissions Committee as soon as all required documents are received.

  • Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law LL.M.

    Morris, Beatrice, Lewis, Peter and Joseph Weinberger Endowed Scholarship

    Executive producer, music mogul, entrepreneur, and lawyer Joseph Weinberger, J.D. ’82, established an endowed scholarship in 2012 at Miami Law to support students in the jointJ.D./LL.M. Program in Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law.

    Patricia D. White Entertainment, Arts and Sports Scholarship

    Dean Emerita Patricia D. White was instrumental in establishing the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law LL.M. program at the School of Law during her deanship and bringing it to national prominence. In recognition of this legacy and impact, a leadership gift from Peter and Rita Carfa*gna seeded a scholarship and dean’s writing prize award in her name upon her retirement.

  • Estate Planning LL.M.

    American Bar Association Scholarship

    One full-tuition scholarship to study in the Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning LL.M. is available to the first place winner ofThe American Bar Association’s Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law (RPTE) Student Writing Contest.     American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) Scholarship

    One full-tuition scholarship to the Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning LL.M. is available to the first-place winner of theAmerican College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) Student Writing Competition.     Philip E. Heckerling Scholarship

    One partial-tuition scholarship is available for the Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning LL.M. to a currently enrolled J.D. candidate or recent graduate (within the last three years) of the University of Miami School of Law with the highest J.D. grade point average (minimum 3.0 required). Students who submit a complete LL.M. application areautomatically consideredfor this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

    Candidatesmust applyand be admitted to the Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning LL.M. as full-time students before June 15.

  • International Arbitration LL.M.

    International Arbitration Institute Scholarship

    One or more partial tuition scholarships from Miami Law’s International Arbitration Institute are available to study in the program. Students who submit a complete LL.M. application areautomatically consideredfor this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

    White & Case/Carolyn B. Lamm Scholarship

    This one full-tuition is to study in the program. Students who submit a complete LL.M. application are automatically considered for this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

    Young ICCA Scholarship

    This one full-tuition Young ICCA scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Young ICCA member to attend the program. The Young ICCA Scholarshipwinner is chosen on the basis of an essay competition and an assessment of academic and professionalachievements and skills. Interested applicants must submit an essay to be considered.

  • International Law LL.M.

    Benitez Scholarship

    The Rafael Benitez Scholarship Fund providesassistance to foreign lawyers who want to study in the International Law LL.M. or U.S. and Transnational Law LL.M. program at Miami Law.

    Established by family and friends of the late Professor Rafael C. Benitez, this scholarship commemorates his vision for global education and his deep commitment to the education of foreign law students. At Miami Law, Professor Benitez founded the Comparative Law LL.M. program (now the International Law LL.M.),and the Lawyer of the Americas (now known as theInter-American Law Review).

    Students who submit a complete LL.M. application areautomatically consideredfor this prestigious scholarship upon admission to the program based on academic and professional skills and achievements.

  • Maritime Law LL.M.

    The Maritime Law LL.M. program offers several scholarships to outstanding applicants based on academic and professional skills and achievements, including:

    Claude M. Olds Memorial Scholarship;
    Francisco V. Garcia-Amador Memorial Scholarship;
    Rafael C. Benitez Scholarship; and more.

  • Real Property Development LL.M.

    American Bar Association Scholarship

GraduateResearchAssistantships

Specifically, at the Law School, LL.M. students may be selected to serve asGraduateResearchAssistantsto individual Miami Law faculty conducting research oninternational or foreign law issues. In addition students in the White & Case International Arbitration LL.M. can serve as research assistants for Miami Law'sInternational Arbitration Institute. To be consideredfor a GraduateResearch Assistant position,students should speak to their LL.M. program director.
