Vantage Score®

Our personal lending philosophy

When it comes to making decisions on personal lending, 4Front believes it’s important to consider every person’s unique situation. That’s why we follow the VantageScore to assess personal credit scores while also looking beyond just the “numbers” to make decisions about personal lending. VantageScore 3.0 —the current model— is similar to FICO Scoring, but differs in some very important ways:

  • Credit History - VantageScore 3.0 has fewer credit history requirements. It can use credit data from just one account and a single month’s history from that account. As a result, we can usually score those who are new to credit or use it less frequently.
  • Credit Inquiries – In order to get the best deal on credit cards, loans, etc., it makes sense to apply for multiple credit lines. Unfortunately, this can negatively impact your credit score. But not with VantageScore. It allows for multiple inquiries within a short time period so you’re less likely to be penalized.
  • Consideration of Trends – The FICO Model generates your credit score based on borrowing and credit use reported to the credit bureaus when your score is generated. Conversely, VantageScore considers data that shows patterns over time, which allows for variances when “life happens.”
  • Scoring Criteria Weighting – Both FICO 8 and VantageScore 3.0 use similar scoring criteria. However, VantageScore places more emphasis on Payment History and Credit Age to determine creditworthiness.
